About Us
Forward Care Home Health , gained a contract with the Ministry of Health in 1995, to supply Home support services . This orginated from Elizabeth Court Rest Home, a small rest home we both begun in 1992, after our move from Invercargill. In 2003 Forward Care,moved out of the Rest Home business to a small property in Dee Street, from where Home Based Support Services were operated independently. The rest home was purchased by another Timaru couple.
With the increase in HBSS numbers we then moved to our present location at 7 The Terrace, Timaru.
Sharon and Rodney Morton are owner operators of Forward Care Home Health Ltd, and have a hands on role in the company.
Rodney is the business manager, and works with the independent acountant appointed to manage the companies finances. He also checks timesheets and manages the wages. Rodney has completed business papers through Massey University, but prefers to allow the accountant and his expert knowledge manage the financial side. Rodney's expertise is in IT and has developed an efficient and secure data base for all our clients and support workers.
Sharon is a Registered Nurse, and the Service Manger, and has continued with ongoing professional development in the area of Gerontology gaining a post graduate Diploma endorsed in Gerontology from Otago University PLUS a Leadership and Management certificate also from Otago University . In Sharons Words " South Canterbury has an ageing population and to be passionate about ensuring quality care is not enough, Registered Nurses in any health care service - including Home Based Support Services, must walk the talk and demand their practice is underpinned by professional development and qualifications in their area of practice. The people we provide support for in South Canterbury deserve, at the very least, this standard from their provider Registered Nurse, and particularly if that nurse is also Manager ".
